About the Exhibition
More than a report, anecdote, or emotional expression, this exhibition is a communal space for gathering, connecting, and reflecting. It would not be possible without the support of a community united by a common thread: a shared sense of home-waiting across oceans and continents.
At the heart of the exhibition, stands a cube of luggage constructed from suitcases borrowed from fellow Iranians now living in Saskatoon. Each one is a silent statement of a shared experience; a journey taken, a home left behind and a future awaiting. All, once carried through airports, and time zones, holding the belongings of their owners, now sit still and speak silently on behalf of their people.
Fragments of sorrow, nostalgia, and hope echo throughout the gallery, just as they are deeply woven into the immigrant experience. This exhibition is an attempt to make sense of these fragments, like a constant, underlying noise-a mix of unease and uncertainty-that quietly hums in the background of immigrant lives.
