The Cisgender Gaze and Her Dissidents

January 31, 2026 - January 31, 2026

Gordon Snelgrove Gallery
Saturday, January 31, at 2:00 - 4:00pm

Join Cat C. Haines (Regina) and Jaye Kovach (Saskatoon) for a presentation and screening of their recent and in-process work, followed by an artist conversation focused on trans representation in contemporary art. The event will include a screening of the film "Care & Tenderness" (2025), an intimate and experimental documentary about the artists' trans-for-trans (t4t) relationship.

About the Artists

Cat C. Haines

Cat C. Haines is an emerging filmmaker currently pursuing a PhD in Media and Artistic Research at the University of Regina where she is exploring how analogue and process-based filmmaking can act as a transsexual methodology, or teach us how to (re-)construct our sexed and gendered bodies.

Jaye Kovach

Jaye Kovach is a multidisciplinary artist currently pursuing an MFA in Studio Art at the University of Saskatchewan. Her work explores t4t relationality as a methodology towards creating ethical representations of trans people and her community.
