The Snelgrove Gallery will be set up as a Sculptor's Studio from Monday, March 2nd - Friday, March 6th, between 10am to 4pm. With materials provided, these are spaces for creative practice as we invite students, employees, and the general public to stop by and partake in the act of creating rattles.
About this Program
These Sculptor Studios are part of our collaborative exhibition with ISAP, ᑮᐦᑕᐧᒼ ᓯᐦᒋᑫᐃᐧᐣ - kîhtwam sihcikewin. Various materials will be available visitors to create these rattles however they wish!
Following the conclusion of these making events, several rattles will be attached to a kinetic sculpture titled ‘sîsîkwan’ (rattler) — a non-ceremonial artwork that will shake many of the rattles all at once. All art made will become part of the overall installation kîhtwam sihcikewin.
