About the Project
From September 2026 until April 2027, the College Art Galleries will host The John Holliday-Scott Project. Initiated by a group of architects, designers, artists and community organizers, the project celebrates the work of renowned Saskatoon-based architect, John Holliday-Scott. Comprised of material and ephemera from Holliday-Scott’s substantial body of work, the project considers professional design and building practices alongside wide-ranging materials and methods. The gallery also contains inclusions from the University Archives and Special Collections, which have agreed to house Holliday-Scott’s personal archive. This project would not be possible without their support, and special recognition is owed to archivist Cheryl Avery. Over the course of the project, the gallery will host group meetings, public lectures, workshops and University of Saskatchewan classes, among other activities. These engagements will draw attention to Holliday-Scott’s prolific architectural output and essential contributions to civic life in Saskatoon and beyond.

About the Group
The John Holliday-Scott Group is a diverse collective brought together by a deep concern for the iconic building that housed the Lutheran Theological Seminary located at 114 Seminary Crescent on the University of Saskatchewan campus. Despite preservation efforts, it was demolished in 2025. The Group is committed to recognizing the immense contributions to the Saskatoon community by the building’s architect, John Holliday-Scott.
The Group is comprised of a wide array of stakeholders: architects, designers, artists, academics, educators and heritage advocates, as well as current and former University of Saskatchewan faculty, staff and students. They are a group of citizens who have had the great privilege of inhabiting and experiencing the exceptional range of Holliday-Scott’s work and are aligned in their belief that his impact on Saskatoon’s civic life, culture and identity must be acknowledged and honoured. They hope to provide context, understanding and inspiration to gallery visitors and project participants.
