About the Exhibition

The Department of Art & Art History at the University of Saskatchewan is pleased to present works from the 2024 Masters of Fine Arts graduating class!

Each fall, MFA candidates conclude their degree with a solo thesis exhibition that demonstrates the depth of their research and practice over the past two years, while simultaneously celebrating their accomplishments and connections to the community.

During this continued time of inescapable political unrest, extremism, racial and social injustices, global climate crises, and an uncertainty around community, it is art that functions as a necessary point of reflection and reconnection. The unity within AIRING is evident through uses of materiality and processes of experimental research creation. While the majority of works displayed in this exhibition are not included in the individual solo exhibitions, they are nevertheless pivotal to the trajectory and experience of the artists in the program.

This exhibition and accompanying text brings the works into relation more fully, but also describes the process of the MFA, its distributed exhibitions and the role of making in ‘coming to know’ or ‘knowledge creation’.
