As the University Art Galleries are not yet open, we are using our spaces visible from the bowl as a means of carrying on our work of making public the historical and contemporary art and creative practices that confront the urgent and critical matters of our time, whether they be social, political, aesthetic, intellectual, environmental or cultural in nature.

Our first intervention is this fire in response to the call for sacred fires for the 215 children of Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc.

We project this fire not to distract those children from finding their way home, but to call attention to our own structure and illuminate its potentials. In this way we acknowledge the lost children of this territory. this fire will remain until June 21, 2021 National Indigenous People’s Day.
