This exhibition, drawn from the University of Saskatchewan Art Collection features artwork demonstrating modern,postmodern and contemporary aesthetics within the confines of the Hard-edge oeuvre.
The Shortest Distance Between Two Points samples work from specific points through a fifty-year timeline (1958-2008) citing examples of Hard-edge painting and printmaking. Consistencies, variances, influences and an evolving aesthetic are evident as one traces the ongoing movement over time.
Artists represented in the exhibition include Herbert Bayer,Chris Cran, Charles Gagnon, Yves Gaucher, Robert Hedrick,Paul Kuhn, Jean McEwen, Guido Molinari, William Perehudoff,Jaan Poldaas and Henryk Stazewski
